Creative Interventions and Treatment Guidelnes for Eating Disorders: When Words Aren’t Enough

One graduate credit or $120 non-credit option (12 counseling CEU’s/12 AATA CEU’s avaiable)

Eating disorders are a real and treatable illness that impact millions in the U.S. Through the use of lecture, group discussions, and experiential activites, the presenters will provide an overview of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder outlined in the DSM-5. Different treatment guidelines and creative interventions will be examined that can benefit clients stuggling with eating disorders. Additionally, atendees will engage in expericneital hands-on art activities as a vehicle for learning and strengthing the material outlined in the course.
Attendees will:
- Discuss the characteristics and symptoms of anorexia, bulimia, and binge-eating disorder
- Examine the foundations of eating disorder treatment and discuss specific components of recommended treatments
- Learn creative interventions in the treatment of eating disorders
