AA: The Story and The StepsThis presentation will examine the dilemma of the conversation: What causes Alcoholism and Addiction? The program will focus on clarifying the distinction set forth by Alcoholics Anonymous and distinguishing that from other models with which it is often confused. Relying on the "Big Book" of Alcoholics Anonymous and studying the history of the 12 Step Fellowship, the workshop is based on the work of historian and scholar Ernie Kurtz. This will surely invoke interest, deepening insights, discussion and most importantly, an appropriate understanding to help clients and families access this valuable program for healing. The 12 steps are often used - and misunderstood - as a "self-help" strategy. This program will seek to clarify the AA vs. “modern” typological distinctions.
