Fundraising Event for Art Therapy Service Learning Trip

Fourteen Ursuline College Art Therapy students and faculty are making a one-week trip to Chiltiupan, El Salvador on April 13, 2013 to do some art therapy and counseling service work for children who live in this mountain top village. Chiltiupan is the poorest rural town in El Salvador. The Ursuline sisters have set up a day school to help children in this area learn the fundamentals of primary education. There is an orphanage and foster care program attached to the school, housing children who are victims of war atrocities and violence, which has left them without parents or guardians.

We are very excited to offer the children some art making and creative expressive opportunities to help them cope and heal, as well as bring some joy into their lives. In order to provide the children with art materials and school supplies, which can be used throughout the year, we are asking for your participation in our “Dinner and Silent Auction” fundraiser on March 1, 2013, 7-11 p.m.

Café 56 Catering will host a South American cuisine buffet, bar, live music and silent auction. Your tickets and/or contributions are tax deductible and are needed to help these children! The evening will be full of connecting with other art therapy and counseling folks, meeting new people, enjoying good food and merry making!
