DESCRIPTION:

Current training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) consists of two, three-day long programs that teach EMDR as a separate approach to psychotherapy. However, needs assessments continue to reveal that this traditional extensive training is excessive for the typical clinician. This seminar will present a new, streamlined model (developed by Linda Curran of Philadelphia, PA) in which clinicians will learn how to use the essential techniques of EMDR in a trauma-sensitive approach to clinical treatment. Special attention is given to how the therapist can integrate these techniques into their typical approach to psychotherapy.

PRESENTER:

Dr. Marich, LPCC-S, LICDC, obtained her Ph.D. in Counseling Studies from Capella University, and an M.A. in Counseling from the Franciscan University of Steubenville. She also teaches for several reputable online universities and offers original workshops for counselors and social workers on a regular basis throughout the country.

Dr. Marich is trained in the advanced technique of EMDR for the treatment of PTSD and has actively implemented this technique into her own counseling practice. She is a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant through the EMDR International Association. She has worked in mental health residential treatment and in chemical dependency treatment as an inpatient, outpatient, and dual diagnosis counselor, and currently provides individual counseling at PsyCare, Inc. in Liberty, Ohio. Dr. Marich is a member of the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress, the International Center for Clinical Excellence, the National Association of Alcohol, Drug, and Addiction Counselors (NAADAC), and the Ohio Counseling Association.
