Science has led to greater understanding about the developing brain, and we now recognize that childhood trauma and adversity impact how a child learns and experiences the world. Sadly, we also know that many factors such as poverty, urban violence and terrifying events like recent school shootings are contributing to increases in childhood trauma.

As professionals who work on behalf of children, how can we adapt this knowledge to improve how we help children learn and grow? This special symposium will address this critical question led by one of the nation’s most engaging presenters and highly regarded experts on this subject, Dr. Bruce Perry.

*Symposium participants will receive a certificate indicating their participation in six contact hours (also known as clock hours). The certificate will outline the learning objectives of the session. These hours translate differently with each licensing board.
  • For the Ohio Counselor, Social Worker and Marriage and Family Therapist Board, one contact hour is equivalent to one CEU.
  • For those licensed through Ohio Department of Education, ten contact hours can convert to one CEU.
We recommend that you consult with the licensing board relevant to you to determine how these hours will support your ongoing education requirements.
